About Rachel Austin:
Originally from Mount Sidney, Virginia and now living in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Rachel has been writing prose and songs all her life. Her style shows leanings toward the genres she loves: jazz, bluegrass, Irish traditional and rock.
Recently, Rachel has performed at various venues across Northern Ireland, including support slots for Iain Archer, Juliet Turner, Brian Houston, Eric Taylor, The Believers and Steve Forbert, and live on local radio. Lately, she has been playing with Steve McKnight and Pete Bankhead.
About the Album:
The eagerly anticipated debut album from Rachel Austin is finally here. "Hello My Uglies" was recorded in Big Space Studios throughout 2007 and early 2008 and features Rachel at her best, ably assisted by the cream of Northern Irish musicians and studio wizardry from Declan Legge.
The album will be officially launched with a gig and exhibition on Thursday 22nd May 2008 in McHugh's Bar. Rachel will perform a selection of tracks from the record along with sets from special guests The Flamingo Brothers and Rhoda Moore. Visuals on the evening will be provided by Michael Legge who has contributed a number of short videos to accompany Rachel's music as well as a stunning exhibition of photography from Graham Smith.
