it's finally here. the launch of the long awaited "country club". we've got some sponsorship from those lovely folk at guinness and the backing of the even lovelier staff at mchughs and are looking forward to bringing some country, folk and bluegrass delights to your ears. you can expect to hear us deadonmusic dj's playing anything from willie nelson, kris kristofferson, gram parsons, emmylou harris or johnny cash right through to wilco, grandaddy, willy mason or ryan adams. we won't be neglecting the current boom in british alt folk so keep your ears peeled for hot new sounds from laura marling, johnny flynn and mumford and sons as well. on top of all that each month you'll get two live acts. january welcomes jackson cage and louisiana joyride to the stage in what should be a fantastic opening show. and because we're all feeling the pinch of the "current economic climate" here at deadonmusic we've dropped our gig prices down to £4 for 2009. aren't we nice?

the crowds had been highly anticipating the return of fileundereasylistening, or fuel to their friends however an issue outside of deadonmusic's control has meant that their good friends (and ours) lafaro have had to step in and headline this exciting show. special guests on the evening include kartta who have spent the last year building up their reputation in glasgow alongside mates fightened rabbit, the twilight sad and y'all is fantasy island as well as one of the northwest's hottest properties in the shape of crooked little town, who you may remember as splitscreen. completing the lineup is the fresh faced troubador john d'arcy.

the alternative cake sale...
the black box | hill street | belfast | 09-03-2008 | £5
the cake sale album was the brainchild of bell x1's brian crosby and featured some of the greatest irish artists at the time it was recorded. originally the album was to highlight oxfam's make trade fair campaign so we've given it a little deadonmusic twist and recreated the album track by track featuring some of the best acts in belfast and beyond. you'll hear tracks by cutaways, john d'arcy, shauna tohill, john gribben, kitty and the can openers, ursula burns, colin mcmurray and rachel austin and maybe a few surprises. be sure to get down early and maybe enjoy a glass or two of fairtrade wine. photos by phil o'kane

the fate awards aftermath...
the ohyeah music centre | gordon street | belfast | 22-02-2008 | £0
take a lovely new venue, raising much needed funds for it's survival, fill it with drunken celebrities who've just rolled out of one of belfast's glitziest awards ceremonies, give them a free bar and a late night dj set and any amount of carnage could happen. it's invite only so there'll be no fun to be had if you haven't got a little invite in your hand. our money is on gary lightbody and jimmy nesbitt to be propping up the bar into the wee small hours while music will come from joe echo, john d'arcy and a dj set from phil woolsey. anything could happen though and more than likely will! video by brian mcferran
